Camp Muir, Camp Muir - Winter, Panorama Point Snowshoe & Glacier Vista - Panorama Point — Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise

Arrived at Paradise parking lot around 930am once they opened the gate at Longmire. The road is snow free with some wet spots.
Snow starts right out of the parking lot. Snowshoes or skis advised as post-holeing up to your knees would happen without them in some spots. Past Panorama point the snow becomes icy at times, therefore snowshoes, skis, or micro spikes still needed. There are a few difficult terrain spots where the snow has built up a ridge. Also beware of exposure on some of the steep slopes. I did not have one but I wish I brought my ice axe.
We went on a “yellow” avalanche danger day so make sure you check NWAC beforehand.
