Nice afternoon hike up to Squak Mountain Southeast Peaks and Central Peak. Started at the Squak Access trailhead on Sunrise Place SW. Plenty of parking along the street just past the construction parking for a new small development. Trail is in great shape with just a couple of small muddy spots. Once you start climbing the switchbacks, the trail is bone dry.
Once I got up on the ridge, I took the overgrown trail to the Southeast Peaks. This trail is unmarked, and is before the trail descends down to the Phil's Creek trail. The ferns are encroaching this trail, so my boots got soaked. Gators would of been nice, but only necessary for this offshoot trail.. Just like before, I did not find the green summit register. I did find a blue geocache bottle hanging off a branch at the southeast peak #2.
I then went back to the main trail and headed over to Central Peak via Phil's Creek and Summit trails. Snow began on the trail about half way up Summit trail. Not very much. Maybe a half inch and it was maybe 3/4 of a inch at the summit of Central Peak.
The upper half of the mountain was all fog today. No rain this afternoon, so no complaints. Plus, I only saw one other person all afternoon!! Very nicely built trail system on Squak Mountain!!! My route today was 8.3 miles with 2700 ft elevation gain
