Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Quick walk around the Brightwater facility trails between rain showers Sunday morning.  Parking is easy, free and plentiful near the Brightwater Community Center on the north side of the property.  There is a single functional sanican at the north end of the parking lot.  No trail issues other than the steep access to the southern hill is quite slippery/muddy, (quick tip, walk back down along the fence line and you can hang onto it to avoid falling on your can.)

Not an overwhelming amount of wildlife out but there were some ducks at the ponds and various traditional small winter birds.  We did talk to one gentleman who indicated he’d just seen a pair of deer.  There is easy access to the recently abandoned ex Northern Pacific railroad grade at the north east corner of the property if you are into that sort of thing.  The poplar trees in the forests were particularly bright yellow with fall color.  A quick, easy to access walk with a bit of nice forest and wetland areas.
