Sunday morning 11.7.21 - snuck out for a snow hike with the dog, and found way more snow than I expected! got there are around 9.45ish, parked in the steven's pass lot between c & d. lot is not yet plowed so be careful - the entrance right off the hwy is slick, as was the turning lane and even in a subaru crosstrek with high clearance, the thick snow was a bit lumpy to drive over. lucky we saw multiple snow plows throughout the day on hwy 2 so most of the drive was fine (little snowy in the early morning).
trail conditions were grand - very fluffy powder, i put on my snowshoes only for the bit off the service road as it turns into the lake road. very deep snow already, more than a foot deep. i had microspikes with me but did not use - for the descent, i just stuck to the deeper powder for traction.
lake is not 100% frozen, so the bootpath stops at the lake and there was no way to walk around and up to the boulders just yet.
