Had a great hike with the husband and dog today! We didn't realize there was more than one trailhead and used GPS which led us to the the Can Ku trailhead (with street parking). Still unsure what the actual mileage was, but it took us about an hour and 45 minutes for the loop, going at a moderate pace. I loved that I didn't see any garbage or dog poop on the trail(but definitely quite a bit of horse poop, some old, some quite fresh), but I did notice as we were leaving that one of the vehicles that had been parked near us left a poop bag behind since there wasn't a garbage can at that trailhead. We just tossed it in the trunk with our own dog's poop, no big deal. The direction we went on the trail (counterclockwise for the loop) gave us most of our elevation gains and losses right at the beginning, which made the rest of it easy. We only came across one other couple who mentioned seeing mushroom hunters that we didn't see, and one lone guy right at the end of the hike. Pretty amazing for a Sunday afternoon hike! I expected far more people and was kicking myself for getting out of the house so late, but it was perfect. The rain also waited to fall until we were leaving! I did end up with a couple gnarly bug bites during the hike, but strangely didn't actually *see* mosquitoes or many bugs. All in all, it was a lovely, fairly easy hike with lots of beautiful trees, ferns, and berry bushes. I don't know if I'd enjoy it as much in the rain since it seemed like it would be pretty slippery in parts, but I think we'll be back sometime to try it again!
