Skyline Divide — Wednesday, Sep. 1, 2021

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

A road update more than a trip report. Citizens for Forest Roads (CFFR) in conjunction with a very generous donation from Ron Roosma of Cascade Clearing did an initial pass of Deadhorse creek road to improve the road conditions.

The plan is to do more passes to:
-Fill in worst pot hole areas.
-Second use level surface in order to rip.
-Third start shaping road to a crown so it drains.
Please support the effort by DRIVING SLOWLY (on all forest roads...)

Is this the road to Skyline Divide. We were on that road a week ago. That road is a superhighway compared to other FS roads. Many pot holes but not near as bad as many other FS roads

Tussilago on Skyline Divide

Yes, this is the road to Skyline divide. And yes, the forest roads along Mt Baker highway are supported by the volunteer organization Citizens for Forest Roads (CFFR) who pitch in when the Forest Service doesn't have the budget to maintain them. There are similar organizations in Darrington & Olympic.
