Great day, we arrived at the trailhead around 8am - met the sunrise hikers coming down, and somehow we got the lookout entirely to ourselves for an early lunch at 11am. We took it slow b/c the PNW heatwave started early on us. Not a lot of hikers, worth taking the day off to avoid crowds.
The trail has nice breaks for shade. The views from the boulder fields are amazing. Last time I did this it was bogged down in fog and snow flurries, so I had no idea how sharp the peeks faraway were. Stunning.
