Trip Report

Mirror and Cottonwood Lakes — Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Mirror Lake

Arrived around 11:30AM and only a handful of cars in the first parking area so easy parking along the road. The gravel road up to this point was rough but no car-eating potholes.

Hike was moderately uphill most of the way with a few muddy spots here and there. Quick stop at Cottonwood Lake before reaching Mirror Lake for lunch.

We tried to find the jumping rock mentioned in our Swimming Holes of WA book but no luck so we looped back to the beach area to swim.

Lake was beautiful, water was warmish and best of all NO biting bugs. Only dragonflies and butterflies. There was a bit of a breeze and a slight haze but overall a good hike.

Total mileage was just under four miles, with the extra mile from the lower parking area and then walking around the lake and back.

The jumping rock is on the west side of the lake. In the aerial photo it looks like a bare spot on the south side of a somewhat stunted peninsula. You can get to it by following the way trails either way around the lake, though I think it's a bit easier from the south end near the outlet.

This is assuming you're talking about the tall rock with about a 10' drop into the water. :)
