Trail #1400 is in great shape pretty much all the way up to the headwaters. Very dusty per usual, a little brushy in spots, and completely logged out except for the last ~100 yards or so just before the foot of the moraine. Was able to make a brief detour around the blow down and found the track that lead us the rest of the way up to the moraine and the foot of the glaciers, or rather what remains of the glaciers. I could find no evidence of the 4 campsites that Green Trails (Holden #113, 2015) shows past the junction with #1431, the one before the junction was nice but super buggy, and there is a really nice campsite on the river that isn't on the maps just before #1400 makes the big turn to the west (~11 miles from the TH). In general skeeters and flies were reasonable. 9 cars at the TH when we left and 11 when we returned, however the final tally for our 4 days/3 nights was 4 people and 15 deer. Speaking of deer, dirt bags took my trekking poles from camp the first night, presumably for the salt on the grips. Or maybe it was Sasquatch. Oh well, small price to pay for the solitude and scenery :-)
