Geezer Patrol arrived at the TH at 0830 to find an empty lot. It was full upon our return in the afternoon. It had been two years since our last visit and of course, a significant portion of our memories was missing as we re-enjoyed being amongst monster trees or the remains thereof. Though its only a couple of miles, the trail can be a little tough in spots. Bottomline is that if you aren't standing on rocks or roots, you are NOT on the trail. The first 1/2 mile has received a lot of care. Once you start zigzagging up the slope, the rocks n roots get bigger to become completely dominant until you peak a 1/4 mile from the lake. We enjoyed the first mile all by ourselves but were shortly lapped by 4 parties with higher energy content. Lots of TP left on or along side the trial and on 2 doggy bags as evidence of the high usage of this trail.
We did the clockwise circumnavigation of the lake and enjoyed lunch on the rocks at the south end. Somehow, there were no bugs to complain about on this sunny day with a light breeze. Could not have been better.
The route down took its toll on our most infirmed member, which was properly addressed by standard Geezer Patrol Post Hike Therapy - it worked!

If I drank martinis and smoked cigars and had a hot tub, I would totally do that! Instead, it's ibuprofen and a couple beers.

I like the post hike therapy! A nice hot shower, a beer and ice cream has to work for this grandma, no hot tub.
