Road into Trinity was worse than I remember. To say it is rough is an understatement. The Buck Creek trail is mostly clear with a few minor trees across the trail. The Chiwawa River trail is a whole other can of worms. From the Buck Creek junction to the Red Mountain junction, we were frequently maneuvering around trees awkwardly blocking our path. There were some minor stream crossings, but nothing significant. We made the fatal mistake of spraying our DEET at the car, and leaving the cannister. I would not recommend doing that! If you're moving swiftly, the bugs are not much of an issue, but if you stop for any reason, you will be eagerly greeted by mosquitos (down low) and flies (closer to the meadow). The meadows were phenomenal. If it weren't for a nagging knee, we would have made the basin. Thank god for ibuprofen!
