I planned my hike wrong and was way too early for sunset, but it's still a lovely hike. The wildflowers near treeline are in great shape. I think I might prefer Dirty Face Ridge as an ascent though, just personal preference.
The road in great shape, but it's one lane w/ pullouts. I'd try and time your arrival and leaving at non-peak hours as it's a busy trailhead.
I showed up on a holiday weekend and the parking lot was full. People were parked on the side of the road for about a quarter mile.
PSA: leave the bluetooth speakers at home.
