There are a couple downed trees but can easily skirt around them. There are still snowfields about 1 mile in. We were hiking with kids so we turned back - weren't prepared to navigate them. It looks like it's melting fairly quickly. I'd guess that the trail will be completed melted out in a couple of weeks or so.
We've done this hike a few times before with the kids and the dog. It's great trail for hiking with kids. Easy for them to handle.
Since the snow is has recently melted on the lower part of the trail, there are hundreds of yellow glacier lilies dotting the fields right now. This is really special since they don't last very long. The other wildflowers will come out soon (Lupine, Indian Paintbrush, etc.) so the next few weeks will be good timing for wildflowers. The views, of course, are beautiful too. Even if you don't make it all the way to the lookout.
The gravel road leading to the trailhead is in decent condition. There is some washboarding and a few small potholes in some sections but it isn't bad.
