Trail is dry with avalanche Lillies blooming until about 1/3 of the mile in-it gets muddy/wet with intermittent patchy snow. Real snow starts in earnest about 3/4 of a mile in before heading up the north facing slope. The trail disappears and it's a 'choose your own adventure' uphill kind of slog in the deep snow straight uphill. Plenty of tree wells, water running underneath weak snow layers, postholing to be aware of over opening rocks and logs. The ridge still has snow but is much more straight forward, the lookout itself is surrounded by mostly dry earth. I found goretex boots and gators to be helpful for keeping feet/legs dry.
