Lake Dorothy - Lake Bear - Lake Deer — Saturday, May. 1, 2021

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

The road to the trailhead is still closed due to a damaged bridge. I saw something on the forest service website saying a bridge had been repaired, but it was not this one.

The snow is melted to here, so maybe it'll be repaired?

Did you find this trip report helpful?

On the USFS road conditions web site (https://usfs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=2f5351d70b0d4ed9b13d372e9d109fcb) it says that repairs are scheduled for summer 2022, and the washout is only four miles in. I guess it will be a loooooong hike to Lake Dorothy this summer.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. The road is still in good condition near the bridge. The bridge can currently be crossed easily via bicycle or on foot. I would personally not hesitate to cross via motorcycle.

Did some more digging - apparently this washout happened in 2020, as it's mentioned in most of the trip reports from last summer.

Looks like it would be a great road to bike in on - only about 800' of elevation gain in the 4-5 miles you would need to ride. The hike to Lake Dorothy is under 2 miles from the trailhead.
