Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

I thought the Swallows would be active now, and they certainly are.  These small, beautiful birds are tending to hatch lings in tree holes and wooden box nests.

The two perennial eagles have been busy.  Their nest fell from the traditional tree (again), so they built a new nest at the tree adjacent to the right and moved the chicks to the new nest.  Mama Eagle was very attentive to the baby birds, bent over them and inspecting them intently.  I hope the chicks were not injured when the nest fell.

This may be my last Trip Report from Washington.  Mrs. Geezerhiker and I move to Idaho next week.  We love the Tetons and plan to visit them often.

I have enjoyed reporting trips to WTA.  You may still see a report from me now and then to let you drool at the scenery in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.

Did you find this trip report helpful?

Best of luck to you! We are also moving out of state soon into Montana so another reporter hikes into the WTA sunset. For us the Tetons, Glacier park and even the sapphire's outside our door will be frequented plenty.

Enjoy the new adventure!

Trailbagger on Skagit Wildlife Area

Sorry to hear you are leaving Dennis. You and I did a few hikes together back in 2014, one to Bear Creek Falls, and one looking for waterfalls up the Cascade River road (if memory serves). Yes, the Tetons are special. I was a seasonal Ranger Naturalist there in the 1970s and have hiked most of the trails. Keep us informed! Good luck on your new adventure...
