Trip Report

Garfield Ledges, Taylor River Connector — Wednesday, Apr. 21, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Wednesday 4.21.21 took the River connector (is it Taylor, or according to the sign at the parking lot, the Middle Fork connector lol) up to the Garfield Ledges, what a lovely day!

That drive up the forest road 5600 is so impressive and in such good condition. I arrived at the parking lot just after 9am, and saw about a dozen cars, all spread out and presumably spread out for the different trails.

The connector trail is the perfect warm up - flat, pretty and quiet. You do see the road that continues onto the actual Garfield parking lot and beyond, but it's kinda reassuring for first timers to the area.

Walked into the Garfield lot and only saw 4 other cars. The restrooms are open but there is no TP. And there was a lot of trash on the ground by the trash cans. We passed only a couple of hikers (one with 2 off-leash dogs to which I had to holler ahead because of my own pup). Got to the ledge, and there were 3 other fellows, but they eventually cleared out so the pup and I were able to get the ledge all to ourself. By the time we came around at 11am, we saw no one else come up after us, and even less cars at the trailhead than when we started, which is pretty rare. My kind of weekday solitude!

Also, the bugs are out, and my god, those mozzies are huge. I did get a couple bites while stopped at the ledges, yikes.
