The king tides are leaving their mark. It looks like the entire spit was overrun by waves in the past week. Things look a little battered, but I'm sure that's nothing new.
Seeing the flocks of shore birds flying together and shifting as a unit is amazing. The way they interact with light - sometimes glowing and sometimes disappearing is fantastic. At one point they were flying around us as we stood still. Hearing the little chirps and bird noises in the midst of the aerial acrobats is astonishing.
Waving watching was great. As the tide was falling, the changing waves looked better for the surfer who was out.
The RV campground that you pass through to get started appears to be losing sites to the ocean.
