Artist Point Snowshoe, Huntoon Point Snowshoe — Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Perfect timing of a stranger ascending in the distance. The fog made a nice backdrop.

Snowshoeing around artist point and huntoon point was nothing short of spectacular! Arrived around 8:30am to a partially filled parking lot. Trail was somewhat difficult to find. Once on the trail, the path was somewhat easy to follow due to other packing down the trail with snowshoes. However, at times there were multiple paths going different directions which could be confusing. I would not recommend attempting this unless you have GPS navigation. A person could get lost! Snow is super deep and without snowshoes, you will be post holing most every step. Some cross-country skiers were out and about. The weather was perfect! Minimal wind, full sun and clear skies. Later in the day some fog rolled in and covered some of the lower laying areas. Despite going on a Tues, the trail was still very busy! Rd to baker was icy and snowy. I would recommend driving something with 4wd and good tires. Not much of a guardrail (if any) if you were to slip off the rd.

Took about 3hrs total to wander around, eat snacks, take pics and just enjoy the lovely snowy scenery. A must do for snowshoes!!!
