Crater Lakes — Friday, Oct. 2, 2020

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth
larch meadow

We drove into an almost full Eagle Lakes parking lot around 9am yesterday. The bathroom is open, but there is no TP and it is one of the foulest smelling bathrooms I can remember.

We hit the trail quickly, and made our way towards Crater Lakes. The trail is in great condition to the lower lake. From the lower lake, we crossed the lake outlet, and continued up the trail to the upper lake. On this section, there are about 7 or 8 logs down across the trail, but all are easy to step/hop over. The larches are fully golden at both lakes. We continued past the upper lake through a golden larch valley and played around in that area for awhile.

Total mileage was around 10.5 with 2,800ft of gain. Once leaving the trailhead, we only saw 5 people all day.
