Grand Ridge — Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
Early morning view

Continuous beautiful views on ridge after leaving the forest. Mostly grassy meadows by now. Most wildflowers are gone. Pretty windy, which was nice since we were there on the hottest day of the year so far.

There was a nice view of Mt Olympus and some other tall glaciated peaks to one side, Port Angeles and the sea on another side, and in the morning before it got too hazy, you can even make out Puget Sound and Mt Rainier.

We left before 7am and didn't pass any other groups until we turned around to go back to the trailhead. Trail had nice soft tread. I expected such an accessible and beautiful hike to be more crowded on a Sunday morning, but happy that it wasn't! Saw more people, and felt more flies biting me later in the day (around noon).

Trailhead had very few parking spaces. Windy dirt in good condition road up to the trailhead.
