Maybe it was the time of day (late start), or the holiday, or just luck, but I didn't see a single person until the top. Even better, I didn't see a single scrap of trash on the trail. There were a few parties camping up top but everyone was cool about social distancing. It's been so long since I hiked a quiet, trash-free trail, that this was such a huge blessing.
It's a little steep in the beginning, but after a couple of miles it's not so bad; the view is worth the work and you can always take it slow.
The wildflowers are in prime shape right now and the rhododendrons are still out at the beginning.
