Mount Spokane State Park - Mount Kit Carson Trail — Thursday, Jun. 25, 2020

Eastern Washington > Spokane Area/Coeur d'Alene
Bear grass

We had a good time hiking in Mt. Spokane State Park. The route: up trail 110, up the road to the CCC cabin, up trail 160 to Mt. Kit Carson and then down trails 140 and 100. Trail 110 seemed a bit less steep than trail 140 but neither trail is a serious knee- or thigh-buster. The CCC cabin and all the bathrooms we encountered were closed.

The trails are all in good shape with no snow or mud. There will definitely be bugs on a warm sunny day but I didn't find them notably obnoxious. The best flowers were on trails 110 and 160, with lots of bear grass on the way up and a nice variety above 5,000 feet. There wasn't a lot of wildlife (not a surprise for a mid-day hike) and we only encountered 10-15 people all day. All the streams have flowing water if you're into that sort of thing.

Looks like I picked the wrong box. The snow conditions were definitely "no snow".
