Nice overnight trip up the Chatter Creek Trail up to the Chatter Creek headwaters. Started walking at 17:00. Trail is in good condition, but certainly is steep, especially in the first few miles. Not many steps, just a smooth upward tread giving your calves a good workout. One tough stream crossing at the 2 mile mark, but is doable with some rock hopping. We managed to hand our 50-lb dog over the rushing waters. Good campsites from there until about the 2.8 mile mark (we made camp at 20:00), then start reaching patches of snow, that give way to full coverage completely obscuring the trail at around mile 3.5. At this point microspikes and poles/iceaxe are recommended. Snow is well packed, and a blast to glissade down. Saw a few marmots giving a holler. We turned around when we reached the arette north of Grindstone Mountain, but lots of snow could be seen as the trail continues north towards Lake Edna. Ample water along the trail.
