Trip Report

Joe Watt Canyon — Tuesday, May. 19, 2020

Snoqualmie Region > Cle Elum Area

The description and directions seem to have disappeared from this hike. GPS will get you to the elk feeding station, go through the gate to the right (make sure you close it), then turn left for Watt Canyon Road. We drove up to the start of the trees, that’s about as far as a car can go, then hiked up the road to the old cabin. On the way down, we followed the trail behind the cabin over the ridge and that loops back down to the road. There are a lot of yellow flowers that I think are balsamroot, and orange paintbrush. Lupines are blooming in sunny spots, not yet in the shade, and saw a patch of gorgeous blue flax on the way down. There are a few big puddles in the road, and some slick spots on the trails, but overall easy to get around.

No, we weren’t looking too closely at the stream bed along the way, but it was dry where we crossed
