Hiked up from Early Winters. Highway 20 is closed at Early Winters but very compacted from snowmobile traffic, so was easy to hike on with just boots.
Quite easy to find the trailhead and follow the trail all the way to the falls. Looked like we were the first to travel on it since the 23 Feb storm but the trail was well compacted and quite obvious under the top layer of snow. In fact it was so well compacted I hiked the whole way, didn't use snowshoes (my strap had broken). Underneath the larger trees the snow was thin and a bit icy, but rough ice and not slippery. Some genuine powder just below the falls at 3400'.
Didn't get a great view of the falls themselves as the snow on the cliffs looked very sketchy so we did not approach closely. But great views of the surrounding mountains!
Lovely little hike and great that you can reach it from Early Winters without a heli or snowmobile assist. Nice change of pace from the flat trails in the Methow.
