White Pass Nordic Center, Sand Lake Snowshoe — Friday, Feb. 21, 2020

I headed down to White Pass to spend some time cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with a friend for an informal event at White Pass. This was only my second time xc-skiing, and the snow was a lot different than the first time I'd tried it, but I did have a good time (though I do think either my skis are too short or I need some sort of wax situation).

We zoomed around a few loops at the Nordic Center, and then strapped on snowshoes and hoofed it up towards Sand Lake in the afternoon. The event we were participating in ended at 2pm (not 4, like I thought, hence the hurry to complete both activities) and we were totally wiped by the time we got to pizza and beers afterwards. We refueled (a little) there, and then headed home, where we proceeded to read and basically slowly crash, from what had wound up being a 10+ mile day on snow (with some trail breaking during the snowshoe section) in a little less than 4 hours. Whew!
