I started around 9:30 and made my way up the lush forested path. After a mile or so the trail started getting snowy. Be mindful of the icy log bride along the way! About 2/3 of the way to the lake I put on my microspikes to make it easier to finish the ascent to the lake in the slick snow. The snow was slippery but not deep.
At about 12:15 I arrived at the lake. The views were a nice reward and the whiskey jacks showed up immediately looking for their reward but I did not oblige! The clouds were moving through and the view was different from minute to minute. I saw two other hikers at the lake and saw two more on the way back.
After a nice break at the lake I headed back down and was to the trail head by 2:30. Fantastic winter day for taking this hike.
