Lower South Fork Skokomish River — Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia
Forest Light

With the perfect weather continuing I decided to visit the South Fork of the Skokomish River today. If you like old growth forests this hike is for you. I hiked to Camp Comfort and enjoyed a sunny lunch break next to the river. There are a few issues with the trail:

  • About a mile in the trail parallels the river on a cut bank and there is one section that is undercut and it's only a matter of time before it falls into the river.
  • Beyond this point there are about 20 to 30 blow downs on the trail with most being easy step-overs but there are a handful that require some trail gymnastics to navigate.
  • There are some stream crossings that require some rock hopping to stay dry.
