We set out from Seattle around 9 AM to check out the Tulip Festival. It was our first time there (being recent transplants) and we absolutely loved it. It was such an insane amount of color and views of the ranges. Since we spent a significant amount of time here, we wanted 2 hikes that we could finish in the remaining hours of the day. We set out for Sugarloaf (separate trip report) and the Fidalgo Loop Trail. There were plenty of spots in the lot near the restrooms when we got here around 1 pm. The trail was a little disjointed to start, skirting near the water to begin and crossing over the Loop Road. It was a fairly easy hike, no major hills, and the weather was in perfect 60s. There were a few bugs, but they were minor, just noticeable given that there have been zero bugs on our hikes thus far. Lots of wildflowers (not sure what they are) dotting the cliff areas near the Sound. This was a nice scenic, relaxing hike that we quite enjoyed. We are so thankful to be living in this state!

Wildflowers are blooming in Washington Park (Anacortes)!!! We only saw shooting stars on the west-side, picnic bluff area, but the south-side rocky summit area was covered in blankets of blue and white camas. I even spotted some chocolate lilies.

This is another hidden gem of a hike! I can't figure out why there are only a few recent trip reports. The trail starts on a loop paved road like wta reflects (behind the bathroom). I walked along the road and was a bit confused, because I couldn't find any trails. You have to walk on the road for a while before you start hitting trails off the road. Be sure to go down the staircase to the beach! I had the beach to myself (on a weekend!) and there are some rocks you can walk out on for great views. After I got back on the road, there was a trail on the left that I took that eventually brought me back to the road. I then walked back on the road (going back where I came from) and found a trail on the cliff side. This trail became a skinny little trail with more amazing views! After that, I continued back the other way on the road. When the road curves to the left (the other part of the loop), the best trail is right there in front of you. There's a sign there. Take it! I had it to myself, and it goes along more cliffs and around the point. There's also a spot with a bench-the views just kept getting better! I watched a bald eagle fly right over my head and land in a tree nearby. Great photo ops! There were wildflowers blooming on the trail too! I continued on the trail along the cliff, back into the woods and finally out on the road again. After that point there's a spot where cars park for a view. I didn't even bother to spend more than a minute there-the other spots with the cliff trails were much better! This is a very cool hike! If you have small children, you may want to skip some of the little trails along the cliff.

Beautiful morning for a hike along the Burrows Channel side of Washington Park. Due to several days of sunny weather, the trail was in very good condition. Encountered few hikers but more abundant were deer and various birds including eagles, zebra sparrows and flickers. Over the last several weeks, flowering currant has been present along the paved loop road. This week took trail #501 and found a plethora of wildflowers along the rocky slope. Common camas, death meadow camas, western buttercups, and sea blush were all in bloom. Great way to start the day!

I am starting to prefer these hikes along Puget Sound over mountain top vistas. Absolutely stunning hike. Use openstreetmaps app for the most accurate map I could find. I did it in the rain today and some of the trails are overgrown but it's all part of the adventure. It was very slippery and dangerous on the bluffs so i stayed on the inner trails most of the time. Took me about 2 hours but I stopped a lot to just stare.
