This is a short, easy hike suitable for small children and is wheelchair accessible. The hike is .5 miles in length and includes informative, albeit somewhat outdated, signs along the path about the flora and fauna. The hike includes gorgeous views of old growth forest, including a Doug fir tree that is about 500 years old. The hike is easily accessible directly off of the Baker Lake highway. The trail surface includes a mixture of boardwalk, paved sidewalk, and gravel. We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon and there was only one other car in the parking lot.

Nice little roadside trail that is packed with several hefty Douglas Fir. There are some tall hemlock and cedars here too if you keep an eye out. If you are headed to Baker Lake or Baker River this is a great hike to see on the way up or way home. Thank you to whoever preserved this little section of old growth. Really curious to know how tall these trees are.

Beware of: trail conditions

We stopped here after snowshoeing up on Forest Road 12. Our plan was to snowshoe here, fire up the little stove and enjoy a hot lunch This short interpretive trail would be great for a snowy stroll. However, the large paved parking lot was not plowed and we didn't want to risk getting stuck and having to put chains on in the deep snow and slush. We just parked on the side of the road and used the privy. Didn't want to risk leaving the car on the side of the road, barely inside the fog line. Oh well, next time. This is touted as an official Non-Motorized Sno Park. Too bad the parking lot isn't plowed.
