Port-o-potty in the parking lot. Hike is steep at the start, but the trail is wide enough in most places for couples to walk side by side, so it’s a great social trail as well as a real workout.

Mostly forest views but with one overlook of a side trail. The late are very pretty. The trail is 100 percent in the shade.

A really high quality option so close to Bellingham.

This hike is in our backyard (well, not literally) and made for a nice 8.6-mile jaunt today. As with nearly every trail in Larrabee State Park, there's plenty of uphill work involved, and a nice mixed, legacy forest.

We started at the North Chuckanut Mountain TH (Arroyo) and took the Hemlock Trail all the way to the lakes. Elevation gain from this starting point was about 1400 feet (according to AI), but feels like more . . . The trail is pretty quiet, people-wise--we saw fewer than 10 folks across 5 hours--and is blissfully shady. Once you near the lakes, about 3.2 miles in, the trail dips up and down, and gets a little narrow and rooty in places. The whole way is well-signed. There are a number of big Doug firs and cedars, especially hiking up from the Arroyo parking area.

We made Pine Lake our focus today. It's a little bigger than Cedar Lake and has two nice camping spots that are nice places to have lunch (as long as no one is there, of course). All in all, a very peaceful place to spend time. A couple types of wildflowers are in bloom, including some type of spirea. Happy and safe hiking, Everyone :-)

If you want peace and quiet while hiking, this might be your place to go. We got a late start today and wanted to check out some place new. We settled on Pine and Cedar Lakes and we found a very quiet trail. Trailhead had 5 cars at 11 am. We saw 10 hikers and 1 bicyclists. You can hear the freeway for the first mile and half and then it’s quiet. We had Cedar Lake to ourselves where we had lunch with the dragonflies. So many dragonflies around the lake. It was serene and lovely and just the right place for us today. Twinflower and spring everlasting in bloom, with a few little yellow flowers like buttercups around. Red huckleberries ripe and lots to enjoy. The trail is a bit of slog for the first mile with lots of ups but it does even out eventually and was pleasant with all the shade. Brand new picnic table at one of the campsites at Cedar Lake.

Fairly straight up from the parking lot so gets the heart pumping right away... Visited both lakes and the "overlook" (no view).  Just a couple of biting flies.  Lots of berries on the red elderberry and devil's club; and pinesap, twinflower and foamflower in bloom!  Porta potty at the parking lot was in decent shape.

The ascent was pretty steep for the first 1/2 mile or so but became a bit easier. It was a classic “moderate” trail(as determined by Washingtonians haha) I found it pretty difficult but certainly doable. All in all a beautiful hike
