This is an easy hike on trails in excellent condition. I gave it three stars simply because the river is heard more than it is seen on this trail. The woods are nice, the area was logged in the 1930s, so there are many large trees and the undergrowth is lush. It is therefore mostly a forest walk with a river nearby, with occasional views of a swiftly flowing river. There are equally nice hikes in forests near rivers that are closer to Seattle, where I live, so I probably won't return to this trail, given its distance from my home.

A wonderful forest hike. The forest is lovely shades of green with ground flowers blooming along the way. Salmonberry are ripe in one spot and we saw what looks to be ripe mountain huckleberries/blueberries. A few spots where the ferns are so tall they crowd the trail. The river was high and made for a lovely walk listening to the river and birds sing. Only saw 4 people on the trail.

A beautiful day for a hike. After plenty of cold and wet over the weekend, it was clear skies and the upper 70s when I pulled into the north trailhead around 2pm. The trail was in great shape and had some gorgeous views of the river. Nice and flat too, which helps considerably with the huffing and puffing.

What a beautiful day! This is my favorite rainy day hike and we opted for this anticipating rain but only got the beautiful PNW clouds. Only a few cars at the lot, plenty of spaces. We saw a raven eating from skeletal remains in the river and a pair of frogs, as well as main beautiful flowers.
There is one kind of sketchy bridge that I was not sure could support my very plus size figure but it held both times I crossed it (I did make my sister wait to go one at a time just to be safe!)
Of course we stopped at Moe’s on the way home for delicious ice cream!
