We arrived just before 10 am at the parking lot and there were many places to park.  When we left under 2 hours later, there were people in cars circling and waiting.

In the parking lot, the smoke from the nearby fire was noticeable.  I felt that it was okay and my hiking partner reluctantly went along.

We did the hike clockwise, which starts out on a climb past a meadow with fading flowers.  After we passed the lakes above and started circling back, the air cleared and was fresh.

I'm not sure if there were bugs but after that I did have bug bites!

There is climbing and there are some social trails near the lakes that create a little confusion.  It is very nice hike in that it is short yet scenic.

I can see why this is a very popular hike in the area I suggest start early to avoid the crowds. We headed to dewy lake for some more solitude. Wonderful day to be outside. I love this state other than haze but. It's summer in wa it's expected.

We arrived just after 8am. The lot was roughly half full. We parked near the bathrooms since we had kids with us. There is also a nice picnic area.

Warning: Due to cuts, the bathrooms smell horrendous.

The loop is easy to moderate, dry, and exceptionally family friendly. In only 3 miles there are exceptional mountain views, alpine lakes, wildflowers, etc. Make sure to hike it clockwise so that you get more Mount Rainier views!

There are at least 5 obvious rest points with unbelievable views on this loop - for kids or adults who need a break or to eat.

Got one of the last spots in the lot at 9am. Morning was very warm, probably like 85-90 degrees out! Hiked with a 3 and 5 year old. Very dusty trail, wildflowers past peak but still vibrant, especially the lupine! We were lucky enough to even see a bear which was fun! Tons of butterflies, tadpoles in tipsoo lake and even an axolotl! The kids had an amazing time and the views were amazing as always. Clockwise is definitely the best way to see views but a lot more going uphill.

We started our hike at 2:30 pm.   The trail had a mix of sun and shade.   It was HOT in the sun.   Clockwise is the way to go for great Mount Rainier views.   There were quite a few families on the trail.
