Beautiful views from the top. Highly recommend!
Road Conditions: There is a tree down across the road making it impassable about a mile from the sno-park near the third switchback. Just a minor snow patch on the road till that point and shouldn't pose a problem for any vehicle.
Trail Conditions: Patchy snow starts around 3500 ft and consistent snow about 4000 ft. I took the winter route up and followed the tracks from the previous hikers up above. If you go, it would be good idea to download a GPX track as following the road would add unnecessary mileage.
Gear Used: Waterproof boots, snowshoes and poles.
Lost and Found: If you lost something on this hike, please reply to this report or leave a text at six-five-zero 242 5855 with a description and color and I can get it back to you.

We snowshoed the Jolly Mt Road for a round trip of just over 4 miles today. The road is on the right, or east side of the road, about 15 miles north of Roslyn and a mile short of the Salmon la Sac campground. There was little snow at the Snopark (pass required) at the start. Snow depth increased as we ascended. There should be lots more soon with the coming storms. This is a nice moderate grade all the way up, and is a little travelled route. We saw just one skier descending as we were going up. Be careful if you go more than about 4 miles up, and especially if you get near the top, as there is avy danger up there, extreme in places. It was snowing and foggy today. If you go on a clear day, views are great of the peaks west and north, and the higher the better.

We hiked the Jolly Mt Road today for an hour. We drove up about two miles, parked, and hiked up and back from there. This road makes a great hike on a clear day because it offers great views west and north. After morning rain today, it started to clear as we were hiking. We got glimpses of snowy mountains like Lemah and Daniel. The snow level on the slopes around us looked like it was about 4500 feet. There is still some fall color around and there are a few larches here. Also, there is plenty of evidence of the 2017 Jolly Mt Fire in the burnt and blackened trees here and there. Once, about 3 years ago, I saw a wolf chasing an elk across the road as I was driving down. We saw no other people, or wolves, in the area today.
