Parking is easiest at the Lostine Ranger Station just 100 yards south, and across the creek from the trailhead. If you’re lucky, they will be open. It is a real look back 100 years in our country to see how both people lived but also how the Forest Service grew. Behind the Guard Station is perfect for an afternoon picnic.
The trail leaves the Lostine River Road just north of the creek crossing. Sadly, this trail sees little maintenance. It gains elevation quickly, providing glimpses into the waterfall every so often. The trail peters out pretty quickly as you top out above the falls. Be sure to fill your water bottles at the spring across from the guard station.
