Note that the parking lot at the start of the trail is closed, so park across the bridge in the lot next to the resort. After walking up the trail (old road) for about half a mile you come to the old ore car. I turned left following the sign to the cemetery and flume. This trail is mostly a gradual climb, with some blowdown to easily cross. I ended at the cemetery, which is mostly overgrown with a couple of markers visible. Going back down to the ore car, I turned left along the old road to find some foundation ruins a short distance on the right. There was no sign to indicate what this structure originally was. There were no further remnants, so I returned on the old road to the trailhead. Lots of raspberries. Given the time I didn't go down to the river this time.

My first ghost town hike! Between fulltime work and fulltime school, I have had little to no energy nor will to get outdoor exercise time in this summer. This was a sad realization. So when my friend asked me if I wanted to hike Franklin Ghost Town and then do the Green River Gorge Waterfall hike and take a dip in the river, I said, Yes! Yes, I do.
At Franklin Ghost Town, we visited the mine shaft, cemetery and saw some old mining equipment, structures, and the shaft. The ladies working at the lodge told us there had been bobcat sightings recently, so we kept any eye out but didn’t see any. The ladies at the “lodge”were a wealth of information regarding the trails, history, and river. As other have said there is a $5/person fee. I thought it was per vehicle, but it appears it’s per person. The blackberry bushes aren’t super terrible in the ghost town right now. I got by in a tshirt and shorts just fine.
This is the most Vitamin D I’ve gotten this calendar year, and I feel amazing

The trail from the parking lot to view the falls is steep for a minute, then it's flat. The hike down to the river is not hard. The water was moving fast, so we didn't go in. There were people swimming in the pools across the river. I think they had to pay $5 to the house at the top to get to the river.
