This is a small park with a meandering trail system. Most of the trail is gravel, and takes you across a bridge, through a gazebo, and past various art installations. There are many benches, especially along the waterfront, that are great places to pause and look at the view. On any day, the waterfront alone can be a nice view, and on a clear day, you can see the Olympic mountains.
Chinese Reconciliation Park is intended to preserve the memory of Tacoma's expulsion of its Chinese population in 1885, and serve as a model of reconciliation for other communities around the world that have experienced similar events. As such, you will find posted signage throughout detailing the history of the Chinese Exclusion Act and Chinese-Americans in Tacoma.
