I hike Camano Ridge frequently for exercise. Many people hike and run the trails. I go early in the morning and am amazed at what I find. There is always something new and unexpected. Today's encounter was a Spotted Owl. I'm glad that I had my telephoto lens.

I cancelled a trip to the mountains (cloudy) and hiked the Ridge for exercise. My goal was to make common items look uncommon in photographs. Much to my delight, I found the rare and elusive Ghost Plant! There are rewards for hiking all trails. I'm glad that I ventured out this morning.

A quick hike for exercise and to see the colors of spring. The vivid greens from the new growth did not disappoint. The Forest Loop Trail is my favorite route on Camano Ridge.

A bit of mud but trail conditions where great. During the flat portion of the trail there were terrible mosquitoes.

Being a "fun guy" and the first day of October, it was time for my annual "fungi" hike on Camano Ridge. There were other hikers on the trail with bags of Chanterelles, so I knew the timing was right. It did not take long for me to find the much-sought-after mushroom. Be sure to use a knife to cut the stem instead of pulling mushrooms from the ground so the fungus will be able to flower again. It felt good to stretch my legs and breathe some fresh air. I'm hoping for some sunny weather next week when the fall colors should be great to view.
