We have hiked all the trails in this pretty area in the spring, but this was our first time in the fall. The trail was dry, except near the creek and pond, where there was a short section of shallow water on the trail. Our goal this time was to see if there were any spawning fish in the creek that comes from the hatchery across the highway. There were! We think they were steelhead. We enjoyed the fall colors and blooming shrubs and flowers, so different from what's flowering in May. We didn't hike to Davis Pond this time, but it's a lovely spot, with crystal clear water. There is a restroom at the main parking area.
Distance, elevation gain: 3.2 miles, 70 ft. gain (almost entirely flat)
Total time on trail: 1.25 hours
Just took a quick jaunt around this natural area. We followed the Beebe Springs Natural Area Loop in AllTrails for a bit, but picked up a ton of trash by the juvenile fishing pond right after we started, so then we changed direction and ended up walking nearly every path. Peaceful enough, though you occasionally hear the traffic, and the large packing plant across the river kind of mars the view, but it's really cool to see the amazing restoration work that has taken place here. And we walked through an absolutely shocking quantity of swallows.
Two vault toilets at trailhead, no running water.

I'm mostly writing this trip report to comment on the wheelchair accessibility of this trail.
I did this hike with my parents and aunt and uncle (all in their late 70s),and cousin and her 10 year old. My aunt uses a wheelchair. We choose this hike so that she could participate.
It was wonderful that this was a place we could explore without too much elevation gain and that there weren't any barriers to inhibit the wheelchair.
I do want to note that the gravel tread is a bit soft and it was definitely challenging to navigate with a wheelchair. We are all quite strong but had to take turns pushing (especially on the minor hills). I think if you had a wheelchair that was more designed for off road and trails it would have been a lot easier (hers is not).
We had a great time and she loved it, I just wanted to note that it definitely took all of us taking turns to get around the two miles of trails we covered and it took quite awhile.
This is a great place to stop along the river with lots of birds and lots of wild roses right now!

Autumn rains are sweeping across the shrub steppe. Darkened highlights of rock and shrub trunks liven up this dreary season landscape. Dried bunch grasses, big leaf sage, rose hips are among many dried plants highlighted against a gray turbulent sky.
We tried looping the entire park but the lower ‘Grasslands’ trail is flooded from flow of Beebe Springs Creek. It was too cold and rainy to spend much time standing around. A good leg stretch though😊
