The name of this hike is Baker Lake-Maple Grove, but we went from the south trail head up to the Silver Creek campground and camped for the night.
Overall the hike was pretty easy since there is little elevation gain and the trail was in good shape the whole way. We encountered a number of downed logs, most coming after Maple Grove, but all could be climbed over or crawled under. Along the way we got some great views of Mount Baker and other surrounding peaks so that made it enjoyable. *Note: There seems to be a discrepancy in the mileage between Maple Grove and Noisy Creek. According to my Green Trails map it's 5 miles, but according to the forest service website it's 6.
The Silver Creek campground was a nice place to stay. Great views of Mount Baker, easy access to the water, clean platforms for setting up camp, fire pit, table, etc.
So, there are lots of good things about this hike but I'll add a couple of potential negatives to consider. First, it's a man made lake so you won't get the same experience as you would at a natural alpine lake, for example. Second, there are boats and even planes on the water. Last, since it's so accessible, there were signs of folks that didn't have the highest level of respect for the area (e.g. bag of trash left at the campground, cans and bottles in the lake).
