Trails for everyone, forever
Ambassadors are outreach volunteers who represent WTA in their communities and across the state. Learn more about this exciting way to give back to trails and the people who love them.
WTA is a catalyst to help people connect to the joys of hiking, enhance trails through stewardship, and speak up for trails and public lands. We are working toward a future where Washington has trails for everyone, forever. Ambassadors help move this work forward.

At WTA, we are committed to fostering an inclusive hiking community, where people of all identities are represented and feel welcome. Ambassadors help us with that goal. They represent WTA at community events, talk with the public about how to get involved, give presentations to local groups, talk with hikers at trailheads and help WTA stay on top of issues that hikers care about across the state.
Opportunities for outreach in 2023 ranged from large festivals like the Washington State Fair and the Ski to Sea Festival, to engaging with hikers at trailheads, to supporting WTA in statewide efforts like Washington Trails Day. Ambassadors also helped to create and then deliver workshops about hiking safety and planning a hike using WTA's free resources. Through talking with the public, ambassadors are able to help hikers and people who want to get outside find the information they need, encourage them to volunteer and give back to trails and more.
Want to be part of connecting people with trails and the WTA community? This is a flexible role, and no prior experience is necessary.
