We got to the trailhead at 10am. Plenty of parking and a stocked porta potty. The trail was aside from a few trees to duck under, and some muddy stretches we were glad to have poles for.
Not too many people on most of the trail, though we encountered more as we headed out. We had the river to ourselves during lunch, until someone showed up with a pair of well-behaved but unleashed and uncollared dogs.
I hadn't done this one before, and it's a marvelous leisurely walk through mossy woods. Flowers included miners lettuce and bleeding heart.

Easily navigable downed trees throughout. The last 3/10 of a mile muddy, but l anticipate this will resolve in the next few weeks without any large rains. Beautiful views at the end. All trails map does not have a loop at the very end that's an additional.2 miles but it is worth doing to get down near the water

Lime Kiln is always great for a quick forest hike when you've got a lot of yard work to do on a rare dry Saturday, like we did (lately it seems the rain is only on the weekends!). Anyway, we hit the trail at 8:45 and it was pretty quiet still. Stunned over how many trees were blown down over the winter. The trail is clear but the "forest" is now almost open space for the first quarter mile. Mother Nature sure did a number on this young growth forest. But quickly the forest surrounds you again and the rest of the trail is in good shape. Water running fast in the canyon too. Lots of birds. Very pleasant. Except for the pile of dog poop bags left at the trail head. I hike with a dog. I keep the poop bag with me. If there isn't a garbage can at the trail head, I take the bag with me. There's easy solutions dog owners rather than leaving your dog's bagged poop at the trail head. PLEASE don't do this. Get a fanny pack made to carry poo bags. I have one. It works great at keeping the smell away. Have a sealed container in the car to put the bag in when there isn't a garbage can available at the end of your hike. But PLEASE don't leave your dog's bagged poop behind. Even the kids in the family groups that were getting ready to hike as we ended ours were grossed out by the poop bags. I'll leave this photo of one of my favorite trees on the trail. The starfish tree. Happy trails!

Road is decent, potholes easily avoided. Trailhead & parking were fine.
The trail is in good shape with a few smaller downed trees, easily hopped over.
Once past the lime kiln, there are some big muddy stretches. Be ready to navigate carefully or embrace the muck. They're all bunched together, though, and the loop is clear.
