We left the trailhead around 830 and didn’t see anyone until after we arrived at the lake. The trial is very overgrown in some places, you will be walking through thick brush. Not too bad though. There are fallen trees that are easily passable whether you go over/under or around. The trial is beautiful, full of streams, flowers, and berries. It’s mostly flat until you take that left turn up to Alaska lake. Try to beat the heat for that climb. Not only is is steep but you have boulders to climb over as well. Not too long though. We took our 2 dogs up and they had a blast.
Mosquitoes weren’t a problem but flies were pretty bad. I’d recommend bug spray and sunscreen.
One other group of campers came after we arrived, and one day hiker. On the way down we only saw 1 person until we got within 1-2 miles of gold creek pond. Lots of berries to pick! Oh and we saw marmots!!
