I did this route back at the end of May and noticed the Aspen groves and wanted to come back in the fall and see the gold. Well, there was some, but I may have been a bit early. It was still a pleasant walk on a nice sunny day. The trail was as before, in ok shape but I don’t think a lot of maintenance happens. The short section along Ainsley Canyon is covered in intentional debris. Last time I suffered through, but this time I turned left up the road. In a tenth of a mile find a barely trail that leads up to a ridge. The trail follows the ridge then drops to a shallow saddle where you can pick up the trail. The alternative is to just follow the road as you will end up there anyway. The rest is on that road until near the end. Follow the road along the meadow until you find the first of the 3 pines in a row. Head west across the meadow and you should find the trail as it descends to close the loop near the crossing of Robinson Creek. I saw no one but there were a number of trailers/ hunters camps set up at various places along the road in and up higher. Probably a busy place on the weekend. After turning down the final road in, it is a bit rough and rocky. You can go through the gate and drive another 3/10’s of a mile to the trailhead.
