We parked next to the Fairfax bridge and took the steep descent with the cable. That was the most difficult part of the hike. The ghost town was interesting, with the caveat that ghost towns west of the cascades tend to be foundations and metal artifacts, as wood buildings quickly rot away. We had fun exploring the foundations and town site. The trail was muddy but not terrible. I was glad to be wearing sturdy long pants, as there were abundant nettles and thistles in the foundation and town site. I will return with my younger kids, who enjoy "abandoned places."
