View of Mt. Adams from Sleeping Beauty Peak

Sleeping Beauty Peak was an awesome quick hike! Our GPS said 2.8 miles roundtrip. We arrived at the trailhead around 8:30am and there were only two other cars. We knew it was going to be in the mid-90s today so we wanted to get in and out before it got too hot.

The road getting up to the trailhead was gravel but very easy to pass - barely any potholes until you get about 1/4 mile from the trailhead and then it gets a little bumpy, but still good enough for a lower clearance vehicle to do just fine.

The trail was a good climb, not too steep, but it was UP the entire way (no flat spots on the trail, really). Luckily, you're in the trees until you're pretty much at the very top so it's nice and shaded for your climb. We encountered a few trees hanging over the trail but they were high up so you didn't have to duck at all. There was also one small tree across the trail further up but it was easy to step over. The bugs were a little annoying in the trees but we didn't have any issues at the summit which is where we spent most of our time anyway.

When you get to the peak, there's a few different places to hang out and check out the amazing views (You can see Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood from the top) The left side had a little more room to spread out but the right side is where you'll find the old lookout tower rubble and a tiny scramble. We checked out both sides and got a good 15-20 minutes to ourselves before another pair of hikers got to the top.

Overall, a quick hike with some awesome views! We briefly saw 3 pairs of hikers on the trail and 1 coming into the parking lot as we were driving out. Not sure if it was just due to the incoming hot weather or if it's just not a popular hike, but it was NICE! I highly recommend checking this one out!
