My husband and I decided to make this our first backpacking trip together. We started early Friday morning. The road was fine for our sedan as long as you avoid potholes on the unpaved section. We got there early and there were only a few cars at the trailhead. Trail is in good condition but there were a lot of bugs along it and at Maple Grove. Maple Grove campsites were mostly empty when we arrived, but were pretty full by the end of the day. We spent two nights there. Campsites have decent space and the area has several bear boxes for food, three toilets, and fire pits. There is also a dock area for boats and/or swimming. The second day we were there (yesterday) a fire started in the forest near Anderson Point. We could see the area on our way back to the trailhead today. Also of note, the trailhead is taped off now and closed due to fire activity.
