I imagine this is a great snowshoe hike, but it was somewhat disappointing as a summer hike. First off, the Gold Creek Sno-Park area isn't marked during the summer (at least I didn't see anything). I drove up the first quarter mile of the road and parked right before it is blocked by the concrete barriers.
The trail was very nice, but a bushes and trees were a bit overgrown in parts. You're walking on a forest service road nearly the entire time. When I hiked in mid-June, there was still quite a big of snow covering the trail near the lakes. The lakes were still mostly frozen over, and obviously extremely cold.
