Image Lake via Miners Ridge — Friday, Jun. 23, 2017

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

Overnight at the lookout, which is closed but there is a sign that says up to 4 visitors at at time may stay so I assume this must get opened up at some point soon. The general description mentions that it's not open to the public at all. Looks to be well kept. Not much to add here from the last report. Set my tent up in a bare patch around the lookout where it's melted out. I did check out Image Lake the next morning which is in the process of melting out. The hiker campsites are snow covered. I didn't check out the stock camp or up on the ridge around the other side of the lake. Not sure exactly where that camp is but if it's ridgeline it may be closer to meltout than the hiker camps. Views of Glacier Peak and the surrounding peaks n ridgeline are absolutely stunning! Well worth the effort and I would definitely do this one again, maybe with anther day or two to check out Suiattle Pass and beyond. I brought spikes but light boots n poles were perfect for the snow left up there. Little bit of punching through were the trail is melting out first, but that's it.
